Borrowing Rules: Books and Reports

To check out books or reports, write your name, extension, mail stop and today's date on the card in the front pocket. Drop the card in the metal box at the Circulation Desk. First time users must also fill out the New Borrower Registration Card found hanging on the wall to your left at the Circulation Desk. Drop this card, too, in the metal box. Books are loaned for two weeks and reports are loaned for one. They are subject to recall if another user needs them.

Arrangements may be made to purchase certain items for permanent assignment as a "Departmental Loan". Send e-mail to lircc@slac.stanford.edu.

OVERNIGHT books are identified by a red tape on the spine and the stamp OVERNIGHT on the pocketcard and the pocket card holder. If you need an OVERNIGHT book for a longer period, check at the loan desk. Another copy may be found for you or some special arrangement made (e-mail to libcirc@slac.stanford.edu).

Books marked REFERENCE must be used in the library. Reference books are shelved on the wall just outside the library staff area in the reading room. Books marked SR (STACK REFERENCE) are shelved with the regular book collection.
