Dave Roland

David E. Roland was a contributing writer for the First Amendment Center Online while he was a student in the Law and Religion program at Vanderbilt University.

He graduated magna cum laude from Abilene Christian University in May 2000, earning degrees in political science and religious studies, with a minor in public service. During his four years at Vanderbilt he spent a summer as the ministry staff leader for A Christian Ministry in the National Parks at Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, and another as an intern with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberties, a public-interest law firm in Washington, D.C.

After receiving his law degree and a master's degree in theological studies in May 2004, Roland joined the Institute for Justice, another public-interest law firm in Washington. As a staff attorney there he litigates on behalf of school-choice programs, First Amendment freedoms, property rights, and economic liberties in state and federal courts all over the nation.
