Huge Karachi Rally Condemns Israeli Aggression on Gaza

TEHRAN (FNA)- Thousands of people participated in a big rally in the Pakistani port city of Karachi on Sunday to condemn the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Jamaaat-e-Islami staged a largely-attended demonstration to express solidarity with the Palestinian Muslims.

The participants threw shoes at the big photographs of the US President George W. Bush and the Zionist Regime Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

The demonstrators also burnt the US and Zionist regime's flags and effigies of their leaders.

They carried banners and placards with anti-Israeli and anti-US slogans on them. They also chanted slogans in favor of Palestinians.

Addressing the demonstrators, Jamaat's chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that majority of Muslim rulers were serving the American interests.

"Around 1.5 billion Muslims are under the rule of such leaders who are allies of the Western leaders," the Islamic republic news agency quoted him as saying.

Qazi Hussein hailed the bravery of Hamas members as well as the Palestinian people who faced the attacks in which even phosphorus gas was used. He also condemned the United Nations performance saying that the international body was serving the interests of the West.

Qazi Hussein added that Israelis were committing crimes while no one was to stop them. He added that Israeli attacks on Gaza have united Muslims worldwide.

The Jamaat leader further criticized Islamabad for granting country's highest awards to the US officials saying Pakistani government was acting as if it was an agent of America.

Qazi Hussain also criticized some leaders of the Islamic states who were offering friendship to Americans.

Other demonstrations were also held in a number of major cities in Pakistan to condemn the Israeli aggression.

The demonstrators criticized the US complete support for the Zionist regime's deadly offensive on Gaza as well as the silence shown by certain Islamic states vis-a-vis the massacre of the oppressed Palestinians by Israeli criminals.

They added that peace could only be restored in the world when the US stopped its double standard policy.

They urged the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Arab nations to unite against Israel and the US.
