Israeli Tank Destroyed in East Jebaliya

TEHRAN (FNA)- A Hamas run television station reported that an Israeli tank has been destroyed in a bomb blast in east Jebaliya.

The al-Aqsa TV station, affiliated with Hamas said that a roadside bomb planted by Palestinian resistance forces destroyed the tank north of the Gaza City on Sunday, press tv reported.

The development comes as the city has been under heavy shelling and bombardment.

Meanwhile, thousands of Israeli reserve soldiers - receiving a green light on Sunday for expanding the Israeli ground offensive - have been trying to invade the Gaza City.

According to Hamas, the Israeli invasion however has met strong resistance from Palestinians who have been engaging the Israeli forces for the past 15 days.

US-backed Israeli massive bombing campaign of the besieged Gaza Strip which started on December 27, and its later ground offensive has so far killed at least 857 Palestinians and wounded 3,500 others, most of them women and children. Many other people are believed to be under rubble.

According to the UN figures, at least one thirds of those killed are children.
