TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, in an economic conference on Friday, emphasized on Iran's role in boosting cooperation among Persian Gulf neighboring states.

"Iran plays a constructive role in establishing and boosting cooperation among Persian Gulf neighboring states and the Commonwealth countries," Mottaki said in the third "Global Financial Crisis; Challenges and Opportunities for Iran and the Region" conference in southern Iranian island of Kish.

"Iran will hold talks with Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in a bid to expand cooperation," the Iranian foreign minister added.

"Iran is the major key for resolving regional problems," Mottaki said, according to the Iranian students news agency.

"The new global economic condition resulted by the drop in oil prices caused new condition in energy, trade and investment domains," he reiterated, adding that during the last 6 months leaders of the countries have been discussing the offers for cooperation made by Iran last year.

He then said the sanctions imposed against Iran over the last 30 years, particularly in recent years, have failed to overshadow Iran's economy.

The conference was attended by senior Iranian economic officials, including the Finance Minister, Central Bank Governor, Foreign Minister, Vice President, Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Director and Kish Free Zone Organization Director-General.
