Iran to Head ECO Trade Network for Next Three Years

TEHRAN (FNA)- The First Meeting of ECO heads of Trade Promotion Organizations appointed Iran as the manger of its trade network for the next three years.

The ECO member states made the decision at the end of their two-day meeting in Tehran on Monday.

In a statement issued at the closing of the meeting, the participants stressed further cooperation among the member states and underlined the need for adopting joint decisions on internal and international issues.

Commenting on the outcomes of the meeting in an exclusive interview with the Islamic republic news agency, Deputy Commerce Minister for economic affairs Mahdi Mozaffari said the decisions made by the meeting were biding and would be automatically implemented once they were adopted by the meeting.

The two-day meeting focused on establishing a joint strategy for promotion of intra-regional trade, exchange of trade information and organizing joint fairs among other issues.

The organization will have regular meetings in the member states to facilitate trade and investment cooperation among the ECO member states.

Azerbaijan will host the next meeting of the ECO heads of Trade Promotion Organizations.
