TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian researchers have used nanotechnology to produce a bioactive dressing, effective in averting inevitable amputations in diabetics.
"The new bandage can effectively improve the wound healing process particularly in diabetics," research team leader Soheila Salahshour Kordestani told press tv.
Salahshour added that the nanotechnology has been used to develop this bioactive dressing which is made of biomaterial extracted from natural marine compounds.
Findings revealed that the bioactive dressing accelerates the healing process in acute wounds, bedsores and diabetic ulcers by 75 percent, adding that many diabetics have ransomed amputation using this bandage.
Amirkabir University of Technology researcher reported that there are more than 15 kinds of the dressing available for different kinds of wounds including burns.
