6,000 Artworks to Be Displayed at Fajr Visual Arts Festival

TEHRAN (FNA)- More than 6,000 artworks will be displayed in the First Fajr Visual Arts Festival titled 'Hope for Future', which is to open on January 31.



Secretary of the festival Gholam-Ali Taheri told the Islamic republic news agency on Saturday that so far a total of 2,100 domestic artists have announced their readiness to take part in the month-long event by submitting 6,161 pieces of their artworks in different fields including photography, caricature, painting, sculpture, poster and graphic designs.

"The figure excludes artworks of some 300 artists who have been invited to the event," he said.

Some 2,490 paintings by 795 painters, 1,196 posters and graphic designs by 475 designers, 420 sculptures by 235 sculptors, 404 caricatures by 178 caricaturists and 1,600 photographs by 435 photographers have so far been sent to the secretariat of the festival, Taheri said.

He added that the festival would be held in Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts, Azadi Complex, Niavaran House of Culture and The House of Artists.

The artworks to be exhibited at the festival will also be displayed in other provinces upon the approvals of their artists, added the official.
