The "Minister of Defense" has spent the last seven seasons in Italy with Messina and Livorno before being released last summer.
Since then, he has failed to find a European club and signed for the Iranian champions earlier this month.
"I am waiting for my first league appearance for Persepolis in order to prove many issues and become a reliable player for my team", Rezaei told the Iranian Pro Sport news agency.
"I hope that the league organization will soon issue my permit to play so that I can play against Esteghlal Ahvaz."
"I have great ambitions to prove myself again which would be a good response to my critics", added the 33-year-old.
These are tough times for Reds' fans as Afshin Ghotbi quit as coach last week as the team has struggled to maintain its championship-winning form of last season.
"I feel that we can build a strong defensive line for Persepolis in the Persian Gulf League and I can be one of the best. All our team needs now, is obtaining a victory in Azadi stadium which would ease off the pressure and reduce our stress."
