TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran is to take part in the Oman Football Tournament to be held from December 17 to 19, in a further move to prepare for their next matches in the Asian World Cup qualifiers.
Iran, China and Ecuador will take part in a four-nation tournament to be held in Oman from December 16 to 19.
The hosts, who are preparing for the next year's Persian Gulf Cup, will play China in the opener on December 16 while Iran will face Ecuador on the same day at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
Final will be played on December 19, preceded by the third place playoff.
According to media reports, the winning team will be richer by US$100,000.
Iran have five points after three matches in Group B, which also sees North Korea, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the UAE vying for a berth to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
In their last game in Dubai's Al-Maktoum Stadium on Wednesday, the Asian heavyweights held the UAE to a 1-1 draw when veteran Karim Bagheri's fine header disappointed the players of the small Arab Persian Gulf state.
