Esteqlal beat crisis-hit Saipa 2-0 on Saturday to move to third place in the IPL table with 28 points, one point clear of Sepahan, which sealed a 2-1 home victory against Abumoslem to take the fourth position.
Continuing their turbulent season, Persepolis was pushed further down the table by the Sepahan and Esteqlal victories. The previous champions now stand in fifth position with 26 points, press tv reported.
IPL leader Zob Ahan was held to 1-1 home draw against Malavan, but retained its top position with 32 points.
In other matches, Payam lost 1-0 to Moqavemat Sepasi while Barq and Damash drew 1-1.
