Larijani: Urgent Int'l Action for Gaza Reconstruction Needed

TEHRAN (FNA)- Urgent action by the international community is needed for the reconstruction of Gaza, Iranian parliament speaker said in a phone call with his Indonesian and Syrian counterparts last night.

"Certainly, the trip to Gaza by the Asian Parliament Assembly (APA) troika and studying reconstruction ways and the rubbles remaining from the Zionists' barbaric onslaught on this region will be very fruitful," Ali Larijani said while speaking with Indonesian Parliament Speaker Agung Laksono on Friday.

Indonesian parliament speaker, who also chairs the Asian Parliament assembly, reiterated that he will continue his efforts to coordinate the trip to Gaza.

Also in another phone call, the Iranian speaker urged his Syrian counterpart Mahmoud al-Abrash to make his utmost efforts to arrange a meeting of the APA troika members in Gaza.

Al-Abrash, for his part, welcomed the offer for a visit to Gaza by the APA troika members to study possible ways of reconstructing the Palestinian coastal area.

Speakers of Iran, Indonesia and Syria, as members of the APA troika, held a series of meetings in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Istanbul in Turkey in recent weeks to study possible ways to support Gazans in the war against Israel.
