Rafsanjani Deems Gaza Triumph as Iran's Victory

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran deems Gaza's triumph over the Israeli regime in the 22-day war as its own victory, Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said.

Referring to the western countries' accusations against Iran, Rafsanjani stressed Iran's continued support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Iran believes that the basis for Palestinian people to get their rights should be prepared, he reiterated during a ceremony here on Sunday to celebrate the victory of resistance in Gaza.

Differentiating between terrorism and resistance, the former Iranian president said that those defending their territory and identity are not terrorist.

He also expressed hope that following the victory of resistance in Lebanon in 2006 and recent victory in the 22-day war against Israel, liberation of Palestine from occupation would materialize as the third triumph in the war against the Zionist regime.

US and some European countries thought that they can help the regime gain victory through blocking UN resolutions against Israel but they made a mistake, he concluded.
