TEHRAN (FNA)- The thirteenth annual Washington Festival of Iranian Films will see the screening of contemporary Iranian dramas and comedies.
Festival highlights include the screening of Banana Skin by Ali Atshani, Three Women by Manijeh Hekmat, Head Wind by Mohammad Rasoulof, Loose Rope by Mehrshad Karkhani, Over There by Abdolreza Kahani, and Santouri by Dariush Mehrjui.
Over There is a 70-minute production that tells the story of a young man who has only ten days left to return to the US to renew his green card but cannot leave his country because of marital problems, press tv reported.
The award winning film by Kahani topped Greece's Thessaloniki Film Festival and won the Golden Alexander award for Best International Film.
Loose Rope, depicts the story of two young rural men who must transport a large cow across the city if they want to keep their jobs and futures secure.
The extensive showcase of films by both veteran and new Iranian directors will be highlighted at America's Freer Gallery of Art in Washington as part of a 12-day event slated to begin on January 9, 2009.
