Japan Awards Iranian Illustrators

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian artists were awarded at the 2008 biennial Noma Concours for Picture Book Illustrations in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.



Princess by Fereshteh Najafi won the event's Second Prize, while Joseph and Zuleikha by Leila Fathizadeh, Boots by Parastou Khodaparast Haqqi, The Spelled City by Parisa Arta and Wolves and Humans by Saba Masoumian were announced as the runner-ups.

The event's Grand Prize went to Wen Hsu from Costa Rica, press tv reported.

Zahhak by Alireza Jeddi, The Singer Wolf by Atefeh Malekjoo, The Princess Who Liked to Eat Apples by Azita Arta, Sara, Apple Jam and River by Hoda Haddadi, I Received your Letter Right Now by Maryam Molayi, The Hero's Trick by Narges Mohammadi, The Disloyal Friend by Rshin Kheyrieh received the event's Encouragement Prize.

Organized by the Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU), the Noma Concours for Picture Book Illustrations presents works by illustrators, graphic designers and artists from Asia (except Japan), the Pacific, Africa, the Arab States, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The prize-winning works will be displayed in Tokyo and at Slovakia's Biennale of Illustrations Bratislava (BIB).
