Tehran Art Expo to Hold Auction in Early January

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran Art Expo will put some works of art on the auction block during the last days of the event.

The second Tehran Art Expo is currently underway at Vahdat Hall and will continue until January 4. A collection of 1500 works by 750 artists is currently on display at the expo and over 50 galleries along with different institutes, including Saba, Esmaeilzadeh and Aftab, are taking part in the event.

Sedaqat Jabbari's painting-calligraphy artwork will be among the items to be auctioned with determination for auctioning other works to be made during next week, the secretary of the expo Amir Abdolhosseini told the Islamic republic news agency.

"Several organizations including Tehran City Council, Tehran Municipality's Art and Culture Organization and Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance bought several artworks but most of the customers have been individual buyers up to now," he mentioned.

The price of the artwork ranged from about $200 to $45,000 and many of these works were priced five or six times more in previous expos and auctions, he said.
