Iranian Envoy Meets Serbian Parliament Speaker

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's outgoing Ambassador to Belgrade Seyed Morteza Mir Heydari conferred with Serbian National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic about bilateral ties and cooperation.

At the meeting, the two officials underlined the two countries' desirable cooperation within the international bodies, including the United Nations, and expressed hope that Iran and Serbia further expand bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

The Iranian envoy highlighted the important activities of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), especially with regard to the current crisis in the Near and Middle East, and called for Serbia's involvement in the issue.

Djukic-Dejanovic, for her part, briefed the outgoing diplomat over her country's planned participation at the forthcoming regional conference of parliament speakers set to deal with the current crisis in the Gaza Strip.

She also informed Heydari that "a group of friendship with Iran" has been formed in the Serbian parliament.
