Iran-France Theater Troupe to Perform at Fajr Festival

TEHRAN (FNA)- The multilingual play "Where Is the End of Sky?" which is a joint production of Iran and France will go on stage at 27th Fajr International Theater Festival.

The play takes advantage of the musicality of the Persian language, as well as Spanish, French, English and Chinese to depict human dreams and fascination about end of the sky in different eras of history.

Written by Iranian playwright Naqmeh Samini, the play will be directed by Iranian French-based director Ali Razi. It was previously staged at three different theaters in France in spring 2008, Tehran Times reported.

Veteran stage actors Louise Heem, Nawal Sharifi, Mathilde Vrignaud and Chhay Ea are among the cast of the play.

Having proclaimed 2008 the International Year of Languages and 2009 the International Year of Astronomy, UNESCO accepted the play under its Intercultural Dialogue and Translation Project, and will be sponsoring it through 2010, director Razi said during a performance the play in Paris.

Razi, who staged his bilingual play "The Horses of the Sky Rain" three years ago in Tehran, told ISNA that he is happy that he had a chance to perform his recent play in Iran.

"While I have staged two other plays during the past three years in foreign countries and I have also held over 12 workshops in different countries, I really wanted to stage my work in my country and to experience the reaction of an Iranian audience," he added.

He said that no negotiation has been conducted as yet over staging of the play after the festival, which will be held from January 21 to 30 in Iranian theaters.
