Commander Highlights Role of Revolution in Enhancing Air Force Capabilities
TEHRAN (FNA)- Combat capabilities of the Iranian air force have improved much since the Islamic Revolution and the country's troops enjoy better capabilities than the time they were operating under US military attaches, a senior Iranian commander said.
"The Air force now enjoys higher combat capabilities compared with the pre-revolution era, when the US military attaches directed the force," General Kioumarth Ahadi, a senior commander of the Iranian Air Force, said in the 62nd cadet gradation ceremony at the Air Force training center in Isfahan on Monday.
"The combat capabilities of the Iranian air force have been on the increase since the onset of the Islamic Revolution," the commander reiterated.
US had a strong presence in Iran during the Shah's era, who was overthrown by the Islamic Revolution led by the Late Imam Khomeini in February 1979.
Foreign, specially US, military attaches who enjoyed unlimited power and influence in the Iranian army, air force and navy were forced to leave Iran shortly after the Revolution.
