Iran Premier League:

Persepolis Deny Reports about Hiring New Coach

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian champions Persepolis denied that they have appointed Luka Bonacic as their new head coach.

The Tehran giants are in the market for a new manager after the recent resignation of Afshin Ghotbi.

Reports in Iran claimed that Bonacic, who has led other Iranian teams such as Sepahan, Esteghlal Ahvaz and Foolad in the past, had agreed to take the job.

Managing Director of the Giant Reds Abbas Ansarifard told MNA that nothing had been decided with the well-travelled Croatian.

"We have not finalized any agreement with the Croat," Ansarifard said.

"It looks like some people want to upset Persepolis' state of affairs. I have reiterated so many times that we have talked to some foreign coaches such as Bonacic, but have not yet reached an agreement with any of the coaches," he added.

Ansarifard also hit out at the destabilizing effect of the Tehran media.

"I don't know where this news comes from. I've already said that some people don't want an organized team."
