TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran is set to hold an exhibition of coffee house paintings with the theme of the Islamic Revolution in the capital city of Tehran.
The event, to kick off on Feb. 1, 2009 at Tehran's Palestine Contemporary Arts Museum, will display works by veteran Iranian painters including Mansour Vafaei.
A painting workshop will also be held on the sidelines of the 10-day exhibition, where participants will become familiar with the coffee house style of painting.
According to press tv, Coffee house painting is a form of traditional Iranian art, which flourished during the Constitutional Revolution to satisfy popular beliefs and the people's need to glorify and revive their religious figures and national heroes.
Coffee house paintings mostly depict national myths and legends as well as Qur'anic stories.
