Tehran to Host Int'l Festival of 100-Second Films

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran's Art Bureau plans to hold the International 100-Second Film Festival on February 19 and 20.

A number of foreign films from Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus have been slated to compete at the event, which has chosen the motto "Interrogative Cinema" this year.

The entries will be categorized by culture, economy, society, resistance, and free sections.

The Culture Section has been dedicated to those films highlighting the undeniable role of media in modern world, MNA reported.

In the Economy Section, art is considered from the aspect of economy since like culture, its role is undeniable.

The Social Section of the festival will focus on sacrifice and philanthropy as essential elements in human societies.

The Resistance Section of the festival is slated to screen films on the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, which is known as the Sacred Defense in Iran. This section has been organized to familiarize the younger generation with the history of the war.

Only foreign filmmakers are allowed to participate in the Free Section.

The organizers of the event plan to hold several workshops in other countries, including the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Syria in order to introduce young filmmakers to this festival.
