"We believe Tel Aviv leaders should go on trial and be punished for crimes against humanity in Gaza," Ali Asghar Soltanieh said at an Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting in Vienna.
"The International community is witnessing massacre of civilian and defenseless Palestinian people, most of them innocent women and children, by the Zionist regime of Israel, while the cut of foodstuffs and drug supplies to the region has augmented the intensity of this historic tragedy," he said.
Reminding that the Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip has so far led to the killing of over 1200 Palestinians and wounding of over 5,000 others, Soltanieh, who is also Iran's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said that the shocking number of death tolls and casualties is on the increase due to the shameful silence of Western governments as the supporters of Zionist regime.
"The Israeli army uses different types of banned weaponries, including phosphorous, cluster and depleted Uranium bombs in its barbaric onslaughts," he said, adding, "…these measures are against the international laws, including the most fundamental humanitarian norms and human rights."
We expect Islamic countries to examine the situation and do whatever they can to stop this slaughter, he said.
"Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has strongly condemned complicity with the Zionists by certain regimes, and said that the silence shown by certain countries and international bodies has paved the way for these crimes," Soltanieh stated.
"And his Excellency stated that any kind of trade to the benefit of the Zionist regime must be avoided and no one should be allowed to import and distribute Israeli products profiting the regime," he said.
The Iranian envoy stressed that the OIC is expected to condemn the Israeli regime and force the Zionists to stop their aggressions and pull out of Gaza, Soltanieh reiterated.
He further pointed out that the Israeli military assaults against Gaza are aimed at an "ethnic cleansing".
Soltanieh further urged the OIC to adopt serious action to make the Israeli regime remove Gaza Strip siege and open all the passages to the Palestinian coastal area.
