"Failure of Bush's policies happened due to his ignorance of Iran's role in the region and Obama, in order to be successful, has to change his attitude towards Iran as the most important and influential country in the region," member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Parviz Sarvari told FNA on Saturday.
"Obama demonstrated a softer stance on Iran during his election campaign with McCain," he reminded.
"Obama has come to the reality that current policies are no good solution, so he is obliged to change it," the legislator reiterated.
"I don't think Obama's policy will be based on anything outside the requirements and realities existing in the region as these wrong policies (practiced during Bush's era) have afflicted the US with grave consequences in the region," he stressed, referring to Obama's possible policy on the Middle East.
Elsewhere, the lawmaker urged the US to cut its unilateral support for Israel, reminding the deep hatred felt by the regional nations for the Zionist regime.
He also stated that Afghanistan, Pakistan and India would be in the center of Obama's attention, saying, "As Obama has stated, he intends to restore peace in the region through controlling these three countries."
