Announcing this, director general of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization's Museums Division, Mohammad Hossein Farmahini said that the provinces include Isfahan, East Azarbaijan, Semnan, South Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Qom, Golestan, Lorestan and Mazandaran.
According to the Islamic republic news agency, the ninth government has paid a special attention to promoting religious and national identity, he noted. Therefore, he said, it made efforts to commission further museums across the country to present Iranian and Islamic identity.
In line with this, some 62 regional museums, eco-museums and on-site museums had earlier been set up in country, Farmahini said, noting that the figure will reach 82 with the inauguration of 20 museums during the Ten-Day Dawn celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
This while the total number of museums built in the past 70 years and before the incumbent government took office three and half years ago stood at 102.
