Abolfazl Jalili and Amir Naderi were honored in a ceremony, which pays tribute to filmmakers who have twice received the festival's Golden Balloon award.
According to press tv, the annual festival also screened Naderi's 1974 Waiting and Jalili's latest production Everything Divided into Two.
Internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abolfazl Jalili is one of the greatest figures of the Iranian new wave cinema. He has received numerous international awards including the Special Jury Award of the 2007 Rome Film Festival for his mystic film, Hafez.
Celebrated film director and screenwriter Amir Naderi, who moved to the US in the 1980s, is best known for his Water, Wind, Dust and Runner, which is considered by many critics to be among the outstanding films of the past 25 years.
The 2008 Three Continents International Film Festival kicked off on November 25 and will run until December 2, screening films from Asia, Africa and Latin America.
