Speaking to reporters in Washington after a meeting with new US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Miliband called President Obama's new approaches toward Iran a "new dimension'' in international efforts to halt the Islamic Republic's uranium enrichment activities.
The Obama administration seeks direct official dialogue with Tehran and has even appointed a special envoy.
Clinton said the US envoy at the Wednesday talks in Germany on Iran could continue to discuss the approach to take toward Iran.
She also stated that Iran has "an opportunity to step up and become a productive member of the international community."
