"Why are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world so divided that the enemies of Muslims dare to interfere in their affairs and make them face with insecurity," Tehran's provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati asked while addressing worshippers on Tehran University Campus today.
He stressed that unity underpins nations' power and honor, and pointed out that enemies want to sow discord among Shiites and Sunnis and that everyone is tasked with safeguarding unity as the great pillar of Islam.
"Unity among different groups is the (main) element keeping and protecting the world of Islam," the cleric said, warning that disunity would result in the collapse of the Muslim society.
Elsewhere, Jannati, who is the secretary of Iran's Guardians Council, referred to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sudanese President Umar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir and lashed out at the court's negligence of the Israeli crimes against Palestinian people in Gaza.
He further blasted some countries' approach towards the issue of the reconstruction of Gaza, and underlined that the reconstruction work should be done by the Gazans and also the resistance groups.
