"Vote for selecting between the Japanese representative (to the agency) Yukiya Amano and the South African representative Abdul Samad Minty will be held at the IAEA board of governors' extraordinary session on 26-27 March," Ali Asqar Soltanieh told FNA.
"Each of them securing a two-third vote of the Board of Governors will be chosen as the agency's director general," Soltanieh noted.
He reiterated that if a two-third majority is not achieved, the current nominees will be out and they cannot contest again and nomination process begins again.
"It will be a one month period for introducing new nominees for the new director general post," he added,
Soltanieh reiterated that the IAEA's board of governors must choose ElBaradei' successor up to June 2009 so that he or she could get confirmation of 145 member states in the Agency's annual assembly meeting next September.
ElBaradei began serving as Director General of the IAEA on December 1, 1997.
