The decision was announced Thursday by the visiting Iranian Deputy Science Minister for Student Affairs Mahmoud Mollabashi, during a meeting with Turkey's Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Education Muammer Yasar Ozgul, press tv reported.
"Iran is ready to sign a letter of agreement with Turkey on this subject," Mollabashi said.
The Iranian official further asked the Turkish government to provide more facilities for Iranian students at Turkish universities.
The Turkish official welcomed the move and voiced his country's eagerness to boost ties with Iran.
"Iran and Turkey are two ancient countries, sharing many perspectives. They can undertake cooperation in various fields by improving their ties," Ozgul said.
Ozgul pointed out that seven Turkish universities have Persian Language and Literature departments, adding that departments at two more universities are almost ready to begin receiving students.
The Iranian Deputy Science Minister is leading an Iranian delegation on this visit to Turkey.
