Karzai Offers Iran Joint Media Satellite

TEHRAN (FNA)- Afghanistan suggested Iran to launch a joint television and radio satellite with the cooperation of other regional countries.



Afghan President Hamid Karzai made the suggestion to the visiting Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Ezzatollah Zarghami, on Monday.

One of the most important duties of the independent regional media is to confront western media for censoring real news in eastern countries, press tv quoted him as saying.

The Afghan president called for the development of cooperation between the two countries' media to exchange experiences.

Karzai also called the Persian language a world treasure and underlined the necessity to develop it through cultural products.

Meanwhile, Zarghami gave more than 30 television serials, telefilms, documentaries and animations to the Afghanistan as a gift of the Iranian nation.
