45 Countries Take Part in Int'l Unity Conference in Tehran

TEHRAN (FNA)- 45 countries have dispatched their scholars to the Islamic Unity Conference which kicked off work here in Tehran on Friday.

More than 200 scholars from Sudan, Kuwait, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Syria, Tunis, Hong Kong, Turkey, Iraq, Gambia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Iran, the US, the UK, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirate, Egypt, Oman and other countries have come to Iran to participate in the 22nd International Islamic Unity Conference.

In the meeting organized by the World Assembly for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WAPIST), Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made the opening speech.

The 3-day meeting is due to study the challenges that Muslims confront in their way to unity.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hossein Saffar Harandi is scheduled to make the final speech of the conference.
