Iran Wushu Teams to Participate in Int'l Competitions

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian women's Wushu teams will take part in three international competitions within the next three months.

The competitions will be held in Thailand, the Philippines and Canada.

According to the Islamic republic news agency, the Wushu teams will participate in warm up camps in February 2009.

Wushu, also known as modern Wushu or contemporary Wushu, is both an exhibition and a full-contact sport deriving from traditional Chinese martial arts.

It was created in the People's Republic of China after 1949, in an attempt to nationalize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts.
