TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran is moving towards advancement very speedily and its progress in different fields is stunning, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday.
"Iran's nuclear achievement started with a great national move and thanks God, Iran now is a country that has (a complete nuclear) fuel cycle and God willing all the needs of the country in this regard will be provided through using nuclear energy and building (nuclear power) plant domestically, "Ahmadinejad told reporters.
He also appreciated the Iranian media for supporting Iran's nuclear progress, and described the "media role as important".
Ahmadinejad inaugurated a nuclear fuel production facility in Isfahan on Thursday marking a major breakthrough in Iran's nuclear program.
The launch of the Isfahan facility marks Iran's mastery of the final stage of the lengthy nuclear fuel production process.
Achieving complete fuel cycles produced in Isfahan's Fuel Manufacturing Plant (FMP) to load Iran's heavy and light water reactors and testing of two types of new high-capacity centrifuges, all achieved by Iranian experts, were the country's new advancement in nuclear field, Ahmadinejad told the audiences in Isfahan.
Meantime, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization Gholam Reza Aqazadeh announced that some 7,000 centrifuges are now operating in Iran's Natanz uranium enrichment facility, adding that Tehran has also developed a new generation of centrifuges in Natanz.
The FMP in Isfahan will convert enriched uranium hexafluoride into uranium dioxide (UO2) powder which will later be processed into pellet form.
The pellets will then be stacked into tubes of corrosion-resistant metal alloy called fuel rods.
The finished fuel rods will then be assembled together to build up the nuclear fuel core of a power reactor.
