FM: Extremism Recognizes No Borders

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday called on all regional countries to opt for an all-embracing solution to combat radicalism single-heartedly, warning that extremism could damage interests of all regional states as it is not bound to borders.

Some countries think that extremism in the region does not damage their interests but they are negligent to this reality that extremism recognizes no borders, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said.

Speaking in a meeting with the Pakistani Federal Government's Trade Minister Makhdoum Amin Fahim on Tuesday, Mottaki reiterated that there are some groups that want insecurity, instability and unrest in Pakistan and in the region.

"The current crisis is a regional crisis that needs a regional solution and a solution encompassing all the regional countries makes the best plan," he added.

The Iranian top diplomat also referred to the relations between Tehran and Islamabad, and said, "There are good capacities in the two countries and utilizing them can cause a jump in the bilateral economic relations."

He also announced preparedness of the Iranian institutions to participate in Pakistan's developmental projects.

During the meeting, Fahim pointed to the good relations between the two countries, and said, "Relations of Iran and Pakistan, as the two brotherly countries, enjoy a long and historical background and there is a profound relationship between the two nations."

He also announced his country's determination to repress extremism, and also welcomed Iran's plan for solving problems through regional solutions.
