Mottaki: Iran Favors Yemen's Progress, Security

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Islamic Republic of Iran is keen to see progress, security and prosperity of Yemen, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday.

Speaking in a meeting with Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Muthana Hassan, Mottaki stressed, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is always committed to the consolidation of its friendship and deepening of its cooperation with Yemen and, on the same basis, it wants progress, security and prosperity for Yemen."

Mottaki further pointed to the good economic and political ties between the two countries, and called for an increase in bilateral talks and meetings at all levels.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing an honest and friendly approach towards Yemen, and this is the most important basis for the two countries relations," the Iranian top diplomat said.

During the meeting, Muthana pointed out that regular exchanges between the two countries' officials have left constructive effects on the deepening of relations between the two Muslim nations.

Deepening of Iran-Yemen relations and cooperation is based on strong principles shared by both countries, he said, reiterating that strong and good relations between Iran and Yemen can always wash out the ground for any misunderstanding.

"We feel brotherhood and friendship with the great Iranian nation and we believe that Iran wants nothing but good for us and we want nothing but good for Iran," he added.
