Iran Calls for Iraq's Vigilance over Terrorist Activities
TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran urged the Iraqi officials to be vigilant against the terrorists stationed at its borders with Iran.
Speaking to reporters during a weekly press conference here in Tehran on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi stressed that Iran respects Iraq's national sovereignty and wants the Iraqi officials to pay special attention to their common borders with Iran and to monitor the activities of terrorist groups.
Qashqavi also reiterated that Iran expects the Iraqi officials to restore security in the borders with Iran after Saddam Hussein's ouster from power in Iraq, adding that the 1300-kilometer-long borders with Iraq were unsafe during the dictator's ruling era.
The remarks came as the outlawed Party for Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) announced overt activities alongside Iran-Iraq border areas.
