Iran, Turkey Keen to Promote Cultural, Sport Cooperation

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran and Turkey called for expansion of cultural and sport cooperation between the two neighbors sharing historical commonalities.

The Chief of Turkey's Parliament Culture, Education and Sport Commission, Mehmet Saghlam, meeting with Iran's ambassador to Ankara, Bahman Hosseinpour, said Turkish Parliament welcomes broadening cultural, artistic and sport ties with Iran.

He also noted if Iran's lawmakers have a parliamentary football team, a football match between the two parliaments in line with creating more friendly ties will be interesting and unique, the Iranian students news agency reported.

Bahmanpour for his part referred to historical and cultural relations of the two neighbors as the basis for expansion of ties in different domains including sport cooperation.

Iran and Turkey signed cultural cooperation agreement 50 years ago and this makes an opportunity for further promotion of relations, he said.
