Iranian Photographers Top Chilean Festival

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian photographers scooped prizes at the second edition of the International Virtual FC Quilmes photography festival in Chile.



The internationally-awarded Hossein Fatemi received the Photographic Society of America (PSA) Gold Medal and honorable mention and Mohammad Tavakoli won the Foto Club Quilmes Gold Medal, in photojournalism.

Fatemi, who is currently working for UPI, was chosen the top Reuters and AFP photojournalist in 2006.

According to press tv, his works have been exhibited worldwide and published in numerous international magazines and newspapers, including Time, The New York Times, the Guardian and The Washington Post.

Heuristic photographer Mohammad Tavakoli started his work in 1997 and now works for Iran's Hamshahri daily. He has also been a board member of the Iranian Photojournalist Association (IPA) since 2005.

Hossein Mosaferi, Kiarang Alayee, Minoo Zaernia, Mohammad Borzoei, Mohammad Esmaeel Hesamian, Mohammad Zaernia, Mohsen Saadat Nasri, Morsaleh Ranjbar Moghaddam, Raheleh Zomorodinia, Saeed Mazinani and Siamak Jafari were the other Iranian photographers who participated in the event, held by Foto Cine Club de Chile.

Founded in 1937, Foto Cine Club de Chile is one of South America's oldest photographic corporations, which is a member of the Chilean Federation of Photography and recognized by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
