Ex-Liberian President Goes on Trial
Former Liberian President Charles Taylor has testified for the first time at his war crimes trial in The Hague, saying the case against him is based on lies. VOA's Laurel Bowman has the background of the Taylor trial.
Confirmation hearings are now underway in the U.S. Senate for Judge Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama’s choice to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, Sotomayor will become the first Hispanic Supreme court justice and the third woman to sit on the high court. VOA's Carolyn Presutti reports.
