During the competitions, Reza Farrokhian, Amin Arbab and Alireza Farrokh will compete in trios and Habib Ebadi and Hamed Namazi in pairs.
The organizing committee announced on Aug 24 that a total of 41 delegations have put their names down for the third Asian Indoor Games 2009, set for October 30 till November 8 in Vietnam.
Vice president and general secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Hoang Vinh Giang said the delegations have registered with about 4,000 athletes and that the number is not yet the final one.
Giang said Thailand registered with 420 athletics, Iran 357, India 348, China almost 300, the Philippines 252, Mongolia 180, and Japan 150. The Vietnamese delegation, the hosts, would have over 500 athletes in the games.
With the slogan "For a Rising Asia", the Games will see official competitions in 20 sports, including vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts), for the first time.
The other sports include aerobics gym, billiards and snooker, boxing, bowling, chess, dance sport, dragon and lion dance, e-sports, fin swimming, futsal (indoor football), hoop sepak takraw, indoor athletics, indoor archery, kick boxing, muay Thai, 3 vs.3 basketball, pencak silat, petanque, shuttle cock, swimming, and wushu.
