The 53rd regular session of the General Conference will open on Monday, 14 September 2009 at 10:00 am.
The outgoing chief of the IAEA, Mohammad ElBaradei, is due to present his last speech at the post during the 5 day event.
He is scheduled to step down on November 30 after three terms in office and will hand his job over to Yukiya Amano of Japan.
The heads of atomic organizations of the IAEA member states are also to deliver speeches in the conference on 14 September.
Boosting IAEA technical cooperation with the member states, finding ways to boost international cooperation on nuclear safety, radiation, transport and control of nuclear waste, implementation of NPT Safeguards Agreement between the IAEA and North Korea and amendment of article 6 of the IAEA statute are among issues to be discussed at the meeting.
