President: Recent Election Historic Slap on West's Liberal Democracy

TEHRAN (FNA)- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran's 10th presidential election was "a historic slap" in the face of the West's "shaky liberal democracy."

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks on Wednesday during a ceremony to introduce new Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar.

Referring to the moves made by a number of European countries regarding Iran's post-election riots, Ahmadinejad was quoted by the Islamic republic news agency as saying that they acted as they were "politically retarded."

"The Iranian nation has the initiative and full authority today," said the president adding that those who meddled in Iran's internal affairs proved to be weak while "this is now the Iranian nation that decides how to interact with others."

He said if the US President Barack Obama was to talk to him during the UN upcoming meeting in New York, he would tell him "You have interfered in Iran's election and were defeated by Iranians, then what do you have to say now?"

The president suggested Western states to be brave enough and admit their defeat.
