Assassin of Taliban's New Leader Surrenders

TEHRAN (FNA)- An armed man turned himself in to the security forces, alleging that he had assassinated Hakimollah Mahsoud, the new leader of the Taliban militants in Pakistan, a few days ago.

According to a report by a Pakistani private channel, the assassin of Mahsoud surrendered himself to the Pakistani security forces and claimed responsibility for the murder of the newly appointed Taliban leader.

He also confirmed the reports that the Taliban forces have killed the father-in-law of Beitollah Mahsoud, former Taliban leader, and a number of his relatives in retaliation for their cooperation with the US in bombing Mahsoud's hideout which led to his killing.

Meantime, Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik confirmed that Hakimollah Mahsoud was killed in an internal fighting of the Taliban militias.

Pakistan's interior ministry has released a list of the most wanted Pakistani terrorists, in which the name of Hakimollah Masoud is seen in the second place.
