Iran Beat Syria in FIBA U19 World Championship

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's under-19 basketball team sealed a victory over Syria in its last game of the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship on Tuesday.



Iran defeated Syria 93-53 at the ASB Stadium and finished 15th in the tournament. Iran's Mohammad Amjad was named as the best scorer of the match with 29 points.

New Zealand beat Angola 62-54 in another match and finished in 13th place. The Asian champion had already lost to the U.S., Egypt, France and Angola in the event, MNA reported.

The Countries participating in the event are Angola, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Egypt, France, Greece, Iran, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Spain, Syria, and the United States of America.

The tournament opened on July 2nd and runs to the 12th.
