Iran Tops Junior Asian Wrestling Championship in India

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran Greco-Roman wrestlers ranked first in junior Asian Wrestling Championship in India.



The team with 84 points claimed 5 gold and 4 bronze medals.

Uzbekistan came second at the competition.

Mehdi Pour Sheikh competing in (100kg) class thrashed Indian rival in final and won a gold medal, the Iranian students news agency reported.

Also Mohammad Gholami in (46kg) category, Mehrdad Bahrami in (63kg), Mehdi Zeidvand in (69kg) and Peyman Kardgar in (76kg) claimed gold medals.

Ramin Taheri in (42kg) category, Behnam Moradi in (54kg), Ali Yousefi Kia in (58kg) and Saman Norouzi in (85kg) won bronze medals.

Mehrdad Mardani competing in (50kg) was eliminated in the competition.

Iran was ranked third at the previous round of competition with 3 silver and 5 bronze medals.
