"We held 6 joint meetings with the Qatari border police which had positive and good results," Commander of the Iranian law enforcement forces' border guards General Qassem Rezaei announced.
He said that Tehran and Doha had signed an 11-article agreement in their previous (5th) meeting and that later studies showed all the agreements have been implemented.
"There are good agreements between the two countries. The (Monday) meeting and the agreement were aimed at countering insecurity and goods smuggling as well as other bilateral issues," Rezaei added.
The commander reminded the age-old ties between Iran and Qatar, and underlined that "the two sides' border guards have such relations as well".
He stated that the Iranian border guard squad has plans to reinforce coast guards and use modern equipments.
General Rezaei further announced that Iran's frontier guards and Qatar's coastal command forces are scheduled to conduct joint training exercises in the Persian Gulf in future.
