Iranian President Felicitates Ecuador on National Day

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a message on Tuesday, extended his congratulations to the Ecuadorian president, government and nation on the country's National Day.

Also in his message, President Ahmadinejad expressed the hope that the good relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Ecuador would further expand.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki last week attended the swearing-in ceremony of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa.

Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador, is a representative democratic republic in South America, bordered by Colombia on the north, Peru on the east and south, and by the Pacific Ocean to the west.

A number of leftist states in the region, namely Venezuela, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Bolivia, have all become allies of Iran in recent years and support Tehran's opposition to the unipolar international order built around US interests.
