Annual Condensate Exports from Assalouyeh almost Double
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian provincial official announced that the exports of condensates (natural gas liquid) from the giant gas field of Assalouyeh have almost doubled during the last Iranian year (ended March 20).
Head of the customs department for Assalouyeh's South Pars Special Economic Zone Ahmad Pourheidar announced that exports of condensates from Assalouyeh have increased by 89 percent last year.
He noted that the gas production sales have reached $2.342 billion.
Natural gas condensate is a low-density mixture of hydrocarbon liquids that are present as gaseous components in the raw natural gas produced from many natural gas fields.
Condensate is almost identical to premium quality light crude oil, and can be processed in petroleum refineries to yield products such as petrol.
Since the beginning of the new Iranian year on March 21, some 4 million metric tons of condensates and related products have been exported from this region, which makes this customs point the biggest transit gate for such materials in the country, the report said.
Presently 10 refineries and 7 petrochemical complexes are operational. Each refinery produces 40,000 barrels of condensates per day, with much of them exported to the European and South-East Asian countries.
