EC Chairman Calls on Palestinians to Avoid Discord

TEHRAN (FNA)- Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) warned Palestinians about Zionists' plots to sow discord among Muslims, and asked different Palestinian factions to maintain unity and avoid differences.

"The Zionist regime (of Israel) and its supporters are seeking to create rift among Muslims and Palestinian people," Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador to Iran Salah Zawawi.

Reminding the significance of the Islamic World's unification for supporting the oppressed people of Palestine, Rafsanjani underlined that the measures adopted by the Israeli regime "in laying siege to the Al Aqsa mosque and making troubles for the Palestinians" will further strengthen Palestinian resistance.

The recent raid by the Zionist regime of Israel on the Al-Aqsa mosque has led to widespread protests by Muslim politician and people throughout the world of Islam.

Fighting between the Palestinian worshippers and the Israeli forces broke out when a group of tourists entered the mosque compound, which is considered the third-holiest site in Islam, and which has been a central faultline in the decades-old Israeli-Arab conflict.

Around a dozen Palestinians were injured during the Zionist raid.

The Iranian Expediency Council chief also urged international organizations and human rights offices to pursue the case with the crimes committed by the Israeli leaders in the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, Salah Zawawi appreciated Iran's supports for Palestinians, and reiterated that Iranians' support and solidarity with the Palestinians have played an important role in the Palestinians' victory.
